Book Reviews of Hello Baby!Book Review: Great book! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this book, along with about 5-6 other books to introduce pregnancy to my daughter who was 2 1/2 years old. This was by far her favorite! She wanted me to read this book to her over and over. It seemed to explain the whole process better than any other books that we had.
Book Review: Great illustrations Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter will be 26 months older than her new sibling. We've been reading this book to her 3-4 times/week for the past 5 months, at her request. She loves the simple pictures. The illustrated story is easy for her to relate to her own experiences: in the OB's office, visiting the baby at the hospital, sorting through baby clothes in preparation of the layette, sponge bathing the baby, etc. It's easy for a parent to pick and choose the aspects of each picture that she wants to highlight for her child: breastfeeding, a newborn's umbilical cord stump, etc. Have been very happy with this book choice.
Book Review: Great images and storyline a toddler can relate to! Summary: 5 Stars
There's nothing quite like having your 2-year-old (25 months) turn to you and say, "Baby growing Mama belly? Bigger, bigger, bigger, bigger, now ready come out!", after reading her new book with you.
We got this book for my daughter a month or two ago (I'm just over 6 months along now) and she fell in love with it. We read it several times a day for weeks, until she had the whole story memorized, and started "reading" it by herself. It shows cartoon-like illustrations of a Big Brother, pregnant mommy, and daddy and grandparents. There is one picture that shows the baby growing inside mommy's belly that I think is so wonderful for a toddler to see. Even if they don't entirely understand what's happening, I think seeing the baby inside mommy's big tummy in the book is a very helpful image to connect with their own mommy's big belly and the baby they are told is inside.
Great book, my favorite of the handful that we purchased. (New Baby is great too!)
Book Review: Great sibling book for toddlers! Summary: 5 Stars
I checked out a number of books from the library, read a bunch of reviews and decided on this book. My soon to be 2&1/2 year old seems to be learning a great deal from it. Even the picture of the baby in utero and developmental process have really caught her interest. I would never have thought she could process this- she has been asking about the umbilical cord and why the babies belly button is black (stump). The pictures of the newborns and the discussion of preparation process for baby are good. Don't like: 1) grandma/pa come to house as soon as mom goes into labor and we, as many, do not live near our parents, 2) skips over mom having to be away for awhile and how that might be experienced. Overall, though, highly recommend.
Book Review: Hello Baby by Lizzy Rockwell Summary: 5 Stars
My 6 year old son loved this book. We read it practically every night while we were expecting our second baby. He loved to compare what stage of development our baby was in based on the fetal development chart in the book. It's a wonderful, lighthearted story that really helped him get excited about having a new baby in the house.
