Book Review: Not for eating, just for show

One of my first books about cupcakes, little did I know that this was a book about DECORATING, not the cupcake recipes. I've just briefly looked at the pages, I mean, yes there are playful and cute ideas for cupcake decorating puppies, pandas and pumpkins..etc It's all fun, but who wants to eat cupcakes decorated with gold fish snacks, pretzels and cereal? These cupcakes are not for eating, there's just too much icing, frosting, fondant and artificial colors going on. The "April Fool's" chapter with cupcakes decorated as salmon bagels and peas and carrots is just disgusting. If I ever made these, no one would eat them.. they're just not tempting. Playing with clay would be a better option to make these creations. Of course they're impressive, and kids will probably love it.
What I did like was the easy instructions and techniques, it looks fairly easy. And it definitely is creative, you get many tips on what to use and how to use it.
A good book if you want to impress kids at birthday parties or display your art of cupcakes, but if you're not into overloading your cakes with all kinds of candy, snacks and unhealthy artificial coloring, this is not for you.
