Book Review: A fun little book
Summary: 5 Stars
Tommy and Lou are two all-American boys who decide to fund their new swing set with that all-American money-maker, the lemonade stand. However, their all-American dream quickly turns into an all-American nightmare when Congresswoman Clunkton, Mayor Leach and Mr. Fussman show up and attempt to tax and regulate the stand. Can the two boys overcome these obstacles and make their money? Don't count it! This fun little book is a mere 54 pages, with one page of text complemented by a facing page of funny illustrations. The story is quite silly, being an economics lesson in the form of a caricature of modern leftist ideology. But, is it for kids? In fact I can't imagine that any kid could really understand it.
No, this book is more a sort of consciousness raising tool in the tradition of Kathy Eder's No, George, No, and PETA's Your Daddy Kills Animals. Will people on the left find this book offensive? Yes. Will people on the right find it a funny, poignant, cogent piece of political satire? They sure will!
