Book Review: Just your expressive type

I'm surprised that there haven't been any reviews of this fabulous book but looking round the net for copies and seeing the huge price maybe it's not too surprising. I bet it was a sellout after it was published in 1985 and everybody is keeping their copies so if you see one going cheap grab it.
In my book Herb Lubalin was a brilliant designer who, for over forty years, produced a continuous stream of stunning graphic design and in particular expressive typographic ideas. The book is celebration of his output covering: posters; logos; editorial design (with a section devoted to U&lc); annual reports; media promotion; advertising; packaging; book jackets and book design; letterheads and lastly type design. Editorial design is the biggest section in the book and takes a comprehensive look at the insides of the publications that Lubalin worked on: Eros; Fact; Avant Garde; U&lc and the Saturday Evening Post (unfortunately his Post work only gets a spread).
All of it presented in a large format on the page allowing you to see the incredible amount of precision Lubalin devoted to every job. The first thirty or so pages have an essay about him and his career which is now a part of American graphic design history.
