Book Review: left me disbelieving Summary: 3 Stars
For a good fiction writer character development is a labor of love. A good writer also understands that character development is an act of trust between the writer and the readers. Ms. Penman does an admirable job of taking the reader to the time of King John with accurate historical detail. She also does an admirable job of giving her characters dimension. She brings them to life and makes their choices understandable and fascinating until almost the end. Unfortunately, Ms. Penman commits an unforgivable sin. Without taking the reader on the journey that would justify it, she would have us believe that a principle character would make a decision completely "out of character". If actual events happened as portrayed then she failed to adequately explain. If this portion of the tale is conjecture or fiction then she has violated her literary license. I will not spoil the story for those who haven't read it, but the end did not ring true to me and I was disappointed with an otherwise excellent effort.

The book I ordered arrived on time and in great condition. It was a bit longer than I anticipated but it is an interesting read. I always enjoy doing business with Amazon.com!
Book Review: what can i say? Summary: 5 Stars
this book is one of my favorite. there is a sadness and untrustworthiness that keeps bringing itself out in this book, as soon as you think things are going to start to get better someone does something to mess it up. as far as the relevance to history, it keeps up pretty good. i had to look it up and double check because i almost didnt believe everything that happened. this book got me interested in welsh history.
