Hex marks the spot is a pretty good book about witchcraft, love and action.
Maggie has a "gift". She is an empath - albeit an unwilling one. She doesn't really believe in the occult, and now she is part of the whole scene. She works at Enchatments Antiques and Fine Gifts with a boss who is both friend and guide into this new world of Maggie's.
At a fair, she sees/meets Lucas Metzger, and Amish James Dean, who takes her breath away (and every other woman at the fair). Unfortunately this gorgeous guy turns up dead and Maggie is the one who discovers him.
Now Maggie has to (she thinks) do something about the situation and sets out to discover the secret behind Lucas' death. What she discovers is unpleasant and challenges her dislike of the world of magic.
