This book was really a find if i might say. Once i started i coudlnt put it down, a real page turner you might say. The story follows a young American woman who travels to a remote town high up in the Himalays to try to find herself. She has recently lost her husband, and he had worked there for a number of years in the past and always spoke fondly of his experiences. Once she arived she is told that the actual only doctor has had to leave and she will be the only doctor working.
She had a real tough time because she was not a all around doctor. But she learned and grew through the many months she was there alone. She made one very good friend, and had one stalker. Life was good.
The writing in this book was superb. It was just the kind of plot, and word play that really gets me into a book. These days is quite hard to find a book you really dig into with tooth and nail, but let me tell you this is one of the chosen few. There are many twists in the plot and surprises that you dont really see comeing. So it was really a very exciting book. I would really reccomend everyone read it, for i dare say it deservs to be a classic!
