Book Reviews of Holes

Book Review: Robert Daniel, Bak Middle School of the Arts
Summary: 5 Stars

Think for a moment, what would it feel like to dig holes all day; each of the holes you dig must be five feet across and five feet deep; your shovel is your measuring instrument, and your doing all of this just to build "Character". Camp Green Lake is where you would be your current location, and this was the only source of water for miles. You are allowed to run, the counselors will not stop you, because they know you will come back in search for water.
Stanley Yelnats was an ordinary kid until one day after school; he was hit in the head by a pair of Clyde Livingston's baseball shoes. He was told by a judge he must go to either prison, or camp Green Lake. Stanley Had never been to a camp before. He thought it would be fun. He was wrong. Stanley and Zero have to go through many obstacles in order to reach what matters most.
Holes is a book written by Lois Sachar. This book is about loyalty, trust, and determination. The way this book displays loyalty, and trust is the way Zero stays with Stanley no matter what happens. And determination is shown in the way the boys dig the holes, even in the heat of the day.
I gave this book 5 stars because of the way Mr. Sachar gives a good plot that comes along with a lot of twists. What will happen next, unfortunately, I cannot tell you, "You will have to fill in the Holes."

Book Review: Robin from Lake Tapps says This book rocks
Summary: 5 Stars

"Well I've never been to camp before." Done your going to Camp Green Lake! It's hot, it's unbearable, it's Holes. Stanley Yelnats, the main character is on his way to a whole different life
Stanley has to go to Camp Green Lake because Stanley was walking down the street one day and these pair of stolen shoes fell in his backpack from above. The police were looking for the expensive shoes, and they found them in his backpack. So, here he is now. "Your not looking for anything you're here to build character." Says one of the mean counselors, named Mr. Sir. The head Warden is a woman, a mean, old, read-headed woman.
Stanley is told a story of Kissen Kate Barlow by one of the people at Camp Green Lake. It goes back in time to tell her story, she is very mysterious. But are Stanley and his friends actually trying to build character, or are they really looking for something?

I really like holes because right when you think you know what's going to happen it suddenly changes, like when one of the counselors is teasing zero, he picks up a shovel and hits the counselor in the face, and runs away. That really surprised me. That is why I like this book. It has so many clues it is kind of like a puzzle, waiting to be solved

I recommend this book to people who like adventure books. This book is for all ages including adults. READ THIS BOOK

Book Review: Saw the movie first
Summary: 4 Stars

I made the mistake of seeing the movie before reading the book. The book is good but the movie is better. I think if I had read the book first it may have been a better choice.

Book Review: Solid read
Summary: 5 Stars

While this book is touted for kids, grownups will like this book as well. There's something about the writing style and the story that makes it just as interesting as any "grownup" book. If you buy this for your kids or any other younger relative, read it before you give it to them. You will not be disappointed. The number of reviews this book has gotten is evidence enough of that. :)

Book Review: The Best of The Best
Summary: 5 Stars

When Stanley Yelnats was walking home from school the cops stopped him for stealing shoes. When Stanley had to make the decision of going to Camp Greenlake or Jail he chose Camp Greenlake. Stanley thought all these wonderful things about the camp but when he got there he was miserable. In this book you will read all these different stories that happen to Stanley. If you like to read adventures this book is definately for you!
