Book Review: A good beginning, middle, but a disappointing ending

Humanity has reached the stars in this epic story by Alastair Reynolds. A group of families use cloning technology to send humans out among the stars to watch and to learn what they can from each one and then reunite every circuit of the galaxy and share their experiences. But someone attacks this group of age-old humans to hide a dark secret, and now two of them, Campion and Purslane, must find the culprits and to save the rest of their comrades.
The book is well-written and moves at the pace that neither feels rushed or slow. The prose is clear and easy to understand, though when this story takes place is never made quite clear. One of the problems with the book is the changing of the point of view of every chapter between Campion and Purslane, and you often do not know which one you are following until a couple of pages into the chapter. While the first two parts of the book are well-written, the ending is a letdown, as nothing seems resolved and you are left wondering what the last 480 pages have been about.
