Book Review: A Bit Odd.....
Summary: 3 Stars
I like quirky books so what I had read in the reviews here about this book led me to believe I might really like it. I can't say I didn't like it, but it's a bit odd considering it's a YA book. I can't decide if the author is serious and if she is maybe trying to channel Meg Cabot or Stephanie Meyer. Snarky comedy which doesn't quite fit with the subject of the book, (the children are in the middle of what is apparently World War III, although the war theme is totally abstract which sort of is an interesting concept, however since they are dealing with surviving in it, it also makes the plot line a bit tiring.) Also, the main character, Daisy is in love with her 14 year old cousin Edmond, not Edmund. Sigh. Incest and underage sex, that is not only not dealt with on any serious level, but which seems to be just a way for the characters to deal with physical desires that have more to do with the fact they are not being parented. Not sure if I would recommend this book for young adults. There are other odd things about this book, but why spoil the fun if the reader wants to find them themselves. Read it if you dare.
