Book Reviews of I Don't Want to Go to School:: Helping Children Cope with Separation Anxiety (Let's Talk)

Book Review: Great story to ease anxiety of going to school!
Summary: 5 Stars

This book addresses all of the issues we face as parents of children who are afraid to get on the school bus. Reading this book will definitely make going to school easier! I think this little book is a fantastic way to discuss this subject in a positive way. Reading the book together makes the kids and the parents feel better!

Book Review: Very helpful and a joy to look at!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am an aunt to a dozen children and this is just the perfect book for a couple of the younger ones just starting school! They love the illustrations and love hearing about how much Honey ends up loving school! This has been a real help for them and for their parents. There are tips in the back for the parents to help their children adjust to being apart from them. Very useful!! Overall, just a beautiful, bright and well-written book! The kids respond very well to Honey! She's just adorable! Too bad there isn't a picture of the book on here. Hopefully, one will be up soon so everyone could see what I mean!

Book Review: MALOO TO BEAT SCHOOL BLUES!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am the mother of a 3 year old set to start day care and let me tell you, if it looks anything like her first day of camp-I'd better work on my home schooling skills. Needless to say, it lasted 3 days and we had no choice but to pull her out. She is riddled with anxiety about going off to day care and I have no choice. I have been trying to do some work with her around this issue and everytime I feel we make progress-when it comes to the actual moment, it turns into a disaster. A behavioral specialist down here in Florida recommended this book to me and it has been a godsend!! My daughter and I have been following all the suggestions in the book. They are sooo helpful! We'll see how it goes on the first day, but these are great ideas and she loves the book. We talk about how she is just like Honey! Not only are the suggestions great for me, this little bee has given my daughter alot of comfort!! Go HONEY!! The illustrations are to die for!!

Book Review: A Book for Every Primary Grade Teacher
Summary: 5 Stars

"I don't Want to Go to School" is a fantastic book for all children, but especially for those families trying to deal with separation anxiety. It is not just the child going through those feelings but also the parents as well, separation anxiety effects the whole family. I suffered through my first four years of school and could completely relate to "Honey Maloo". I only wish there was a book that helped explain the situation and let me know that I wasn't the only one that felt the way I did. Now as a primary grade teacher, where I come across children also suffering, this book will be a great resource to use to help ease the children and parents through this difficult time. The story is wonderful and realistic, this anxiety will not go away overnight but it will go away. The tips in the back of the book for both students and parents are perfect tools that can be used to ease the child and reduce the longevity of the separation anxiety.
