Book Reviews of I Hope They Serve Beer In HellBook Review: Yeehar Summary: 5 StarsThis is a must have if you enjoy the website, although some of the stories are lifted straight from there. What men are all about - Nick Hornby, Steve Horsfall et all you Brits never tell it like this
Book Review: Hits the spot -- A fun and goofy Amazon pick! Summary: 4 StarsNo, it's not sophisticated and yeah, this book is like snack food, it's true. But since I needed a few laughs I thought I might check it out. Damn, if it isn't funny. Basically, it's a series of true life reckless anecdotes. The bluntness and lack of pretention makes them appealing somehow -- like gossip from the screw-up mate: 'You'll never believe what happened to me last night!...' This is the perfect book to read in the loo, straight up. Add it to your shopping cart ('cause remember there's free shipping)! Book Review: Possibly the best stories ever.... Summary: 5 StarsWe've all had nights out, but nothing like these. And I think I'm personally thankful about that; but reading Tucker Max's stories you have to hand it to the guy. He's an absolute star. I don't know how he does it, but somehow you actually get to like this ridiculously overconfident, inappropriate, womanizing git. You'll be lying on the floor laughing or curled up wincing at some of these stories, but in the end you just have to sit back in admiration.
Book Review: I laughed my arse off.... Summary: 5 StarsThis really IS the funniest book I've read in years. Tucker is a drinking, womanizing legend of the highest echelon... and these are his stories of debauchery, conquest and alcohol-fuelled campaigns of social terror. And they are HILARIOUS. From the ever so gentle Sushi Pants Story (now legendary) - which sees Tucker drink himself to destruction in a pointless contest with a breathalyzer... all the way to the Blow Job Follies - nuff said... each story is superbly told - you'll be laughing out aloud, and wincing in equal measure. I made the mistake of trying to read this on the tube to work, and had to get off two stops early because I was embarrassing myself by cracking up uncontrollably. First and foremost, Tucker is a brilliant writer - he's one of the greatest story-tellers of our time. Second, he's a fantastically extreme individual, and yes quite probably a complete asshole (indeed he bills himself as complete asshole) - but at the same time he's endearingly self-effacing, and very entertaining.
I can't recommend this book enough - for anyone who read The Game, and thought that was funny, this just blows that book out of the water... it's the book The Game would like to be... You can check out Tucker's website to read some of the stories as a taster - but it's really worth getting the book - there are loads more stories, and it's a great book to dip in and out of...
Book Review: If they serve beer in hell, then mine's a pint! Summary: 5 StarsEveryone has got stories, Everyone has got funny tales they tell to their mates down the pub. Nothing you will have heard will be funnier than Tucker Max. Well written and an easy read. It's a hard book to put down and even harder book to read on public transport. Apparently, it's not the done thing to laugh out loud!
