Book Reviews of I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell

Book Review: Don't read on if you take yourself seriously
Summary: 5 Stars

Tucker Max's book, 'I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell' is a hilarious read that will not only make you laugh loudly in admiration but you will also want to tell all your friends to read it. People who say this is a boring read should lighten up and stop taking life so seriously - I'm sure most of the people who have been victims of Tuckers antics will eventually look back and laugh. The best thing about Tucker is that you will see a large part of yourself and your friends behaviour in what he does. Imagine taking your most sexually active friend, mixing him with the most out of control drinker you know and then throw in that guy who nearly gets you beaten up all the time because they can't control their mouth - now imagine that is all the same person. Be aware no to read this before going out because you will end up adopting Tuckers spirit and behaving in a similar way which will certainly land u in some very dodgy situations

Book Review: Simply hilarious
Summary: 5 Stars

From the first page to the last one this compilation of drunken nights, rude behaviour and lots of sex is simply superb; the detail in some of the stories is genius and the permanent humour is hilarious. if you are a guy, single or not, who likes to go out and have a few drinks, pull or try to, many women and are not embarrase by hearing dirty sex stories but actually share your own ones with your mates, this is your book. awesome. 10 out 10 for this kind of books, of which there are unfortunately not many.

Book Review: Lewd, Crude, Offensive and Utterly Reprehensible......But Incredibly Funny
Summary: 4 Stars

Tucker Max describes himself in rude terms. He has no illusions about the depravity and (frequently) disgusting nature of the antics he and his friends engage in within this book. But that is what makes it so very funny. We've all had drunken nights, and we've all had things go wrong on such nights, and we've all told these stories to our friends the next day. Tucker Max's stories are better. Written in unashamed fashion, the wry narrative and the drunken detail are wonderfully endearing and conversational. These stories had me laughing out loud every time I read them. Often you'll laugh because of a similar experience. Often it wil be simply be because you're glad such events happened to someone else. But for whatever reason, you will laugh. There is a film coming out based on these tales, but it'll have to be damn good because this is the perfect medium for Tucker and friends' drunken shenanigans: a pocket sized collection of pub style anecdotes that are devilishly well written and instantly accessible. Life affirming stuff.

Book Review: Occasionally Hilarious Mostly Dull
Summary: 2 Stars

Tucker has a lot of fans on here. I can only presume that most are 14 year old boys who haven't done it with a lady. The tales of drunkeness are pretty tame: I'd have thought most British lads have a collection of their own that are infinitely edgier. Americans don't mix well with alcohol and most of his stories seem to involve having about four soapy American beers, a bit of drink driving (to the extent that I was hoping that there'd be a postscript telling me that Tucker had tragically died while putting others lives at risk, which sadly didn't come) and then hazing a defenceless victim. I often found myself reading a chapter in which he promised great hilarity, getting to the end and thinking I must have missed the funny bit, flicked back through it and still found nothing. Some of them are so spectacularly dull that it's difficult to work out which bit you're supposed to be laughing at. You just think, why is this clown telling me this? He might as well be banging on about running the dishwasher, at times. There's a lot of it that's just clasless. Here's a fella that seems to spend his days trawling the internet for chicks and his evenings being rude to them. And not in a funny way, just plain being stupid and nasty. Still, his writing style is quite amiable and there are a couple of stories that had me laughing out loud, so he gets a star for each of them. Generally, unless your a pre-pubescent with a very low laughter threshold, I'd not bother buying it - get yourself out, meet some women of your own and have a few drinks of your own.

Think about this: if you've got a guy who boasts about all his spectacular lies telling you that every story in the book is 100% true, why would you believe him? It's a bit like reading stuff on an internet forum - a lot of tedious drivel, a lot of unlikely fibs and the odd funny nugget.
