Book Reviews of I Love You Like Crazy CakesBook Review: An absolute must for all girls adopted from China Summary: 5 StarsThis is a story for the girls adopted from China when they were babies. I am looking forward to our daughter being able to understand it. Our daughter was very well cared for in the orphanage where she lived for the first year of her life. I think this book portrays this. The five staff members who brought Verity to our hotel were very attached to her. This story is a positive view about adoptions in China. The children in the orphanage that she came from were well cared for and loved by the staff. I find that this story portrays that.
Book Review: More for me than the children... Summary: 4 StarsI loved the illustrations- they are delicate and full of emotion. Having adopted myself (and wishing to do so again) it was a very moving book for me. However, the text is not really written for young children .I think more for an older child looking back. My children whom I read it to ( aged 6 - adopted and 3 - not adopted) liked the drawings but I had to explain that "you" in the text meant that baby, not them and their concentration was lost quickly even though they are used to being read many types of books and don't easily lose concentration. It was altogether too focused on the feelings of the adoptive mother for young children to be able to relate to it, although as I say, I liked it myself and found it very moving.

Book Review: An excellent book on adoption. Summary: 5 StarsI bought this, amongst other adoption stories, for my daughter who is waiting for her little girl from China. It is by far her favourite. The pictures are wonderful and I think any child, particularly one from China, would love this book.
Book Review: Courtesy of Kids @ Teens Read Too Summary: 5 StarsWIth I LOVE YOU LIKE CRAZY CAKES, author Rose Lewis brings to lifer her true story of adopting a baby from China. What begins as a letter to Chinese officials ends with bringing home a baby girl, to the delight of her new mother and extended family.
Jane Dyer's illustrations are soft and dreamy, and perfectly compliment the story of Rose and her daughter, Alexandra Mae-Ming Lewis. From that first time of holding her new daughter, to the first night alone back in America, the feelings of love and devotion are evident on every page.
Although this is a book sure to appeal to parents who have adopted children from other countries, specifically China, it's a great story for any child, adopted or not. In fact, my daughter was especially enamored by the book, since it was her first introduction as to what adoption truly means.
Great as a bedtime or any time story, it's no wonder that I LOVE YOU LIKE CRAZY CAKES is well on its way to becoming a children's classic.
