Book Review: Great gift idea!
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this for my Dad. Anyone who likes Newhart's humor will get a kick out of it.

Book Review: Excellent, funny, easy read.
Summary: 4 Stars

Newhart is definately one of the funniest comics of all time. His humor is the type that spans many generations and is also timeless. I positively enjoyed his first and newest writing, and did not but down the book except to eat and sleep ... we'll, I went to work somewhere in between too, but that's just a medium to purchase books and CD's such as this. Enjoy.

Book Review: Makes you love him even more!
Summary: 4 Stars

I would have given five stars but there are no pictures in this book about Bob and his family and his friends, colleagues, etc. Except for that, he explains how this quiet guy came from humble beginnings in his beloved Chicago to entertain not only the country but the world. He writes about his life with a great deal of humor. It's not a book where he slamms anybody and he doesn't have too. We love him just the way he is and above all, he's Bob Newhart or George Robert Newhart, who is one of America's great comedic icons. Despite his success, he is still the modest guy from Chicago that could be the every man and guy next door. You wouldn't mind having him as your neighbor. I truly believe this book should be mandatory for all aspiring comedians and comic writers. Newhart much like Bill Cosby doesn't have to do dirty jokes to get a laugh. The audiences are willing to take a joke. When he writes about the Abe Lincoln vs. Madison Avenue, he writes about how Jack Benny knew the joke inside and backwards. Later on, Benny would complain when Bob edited it out for an audience with short attention spans. He writes lovingly about his icons like Jack Benny, Elaine May and Mike Nichols, etc. He writes about his family adventures on the road. He also writes about how Richard Pryor confessed that he shoplifted Newhart's record once which delighted Bob as you can only imagine. While he doesn't dwell on the awards aspect of his career, he does write that the Bob Newhart Show never received an Emmy which it should have because it was one of the most clever shows on television. Bob doesn't forget his friends like Ed Gallagher who had to leave their professional comedic partnership behind because his commitments to his wife and children. Bob understands and he is quite understanding that I wished he was my friend. Sure, he drops names all over the place but not all the time. He writes about how he came to Hollywood, hosting the Tonight Show, etc. He does write about his marriage to Virginia Quinn better known as Ginnie and their four children and seven grandchildren. I wished that there were more Bob Newharts in the world so I could catch and marry one of my own. Regardless, this book is a treasure for any Bob Newhart fan, for any aspiring comic, or comedic actors and actresses. Bob doesn't have to be outrageous, vulgar, or sinful to be funny. He is just an ordinary guy, the everyman who could take story and make it funny.

Book Review: entertaining book
Summary: 5 Stars

A quick read. Very entertaining. I had listened to the CD and wanted to read it. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Book Review: Very funny read
Summary: 4 Stars

This was a very funny read from Bob Newhart. He tells the story of his
life in short interludes which put together a picture of a man at peace with himself and the world. His humor has always made me laugh, some-
times loudly and this book did the same thing.
