Book Review: A 12 year old girl living in Salem in 1691..
Summary: 5 Stars
"I Walk In Dread" is one of my favorite Dear America books. The story is written in the proper language of the late 1600's in America. The storyline is very clear and on target with the writing.
Twelve year old Deliverance Trembly, or Liv, is living alone with her older sister, Mem, Massachusetts. Her uncle is away, and the two are left alone to tend to the house. It would be easier if Mem wasn't so dramatic, insisting she is sick. But what adds to the trauma is the events going on all around them-The Salem Witch Trials.
Martha Corey, a close friend and refuge for Liv, is accused of being a witch, and is not even protected by her husband. Liv's world is falling apart-especially when the boy she loves marries her sister!
This book kept me reading for hours, and I never wanted to put it down. Soemthing was always happening through the corse of the story. It is very informative and historical. All around, this a very good book.
