It could have been so much more; as an idea, this book should have been rabidly fought over by every publishing house in the universe. Unfortunately, it should instead be doggedly avoided by every reader, Ibsen devotee or otherwise. Bland and badly written, the author is seemingly fascinated by the irrelevant in a desperate attempt to write a serious, brow-furrowing book. Buy Ibsen's complete works and any one of a number of biographies, and this title will become wholly devoid of any literary significance. Yes, there are one or two interesting paragraphs, but they are outweighed by virtually every other word! Avoid!
