Book Reviews of If I Did It: Confessions of the KillerBook Review: Unless you have been in the Goldman's shoes...... Summary: 5 StarsMy police officer husband was brutally murdered by a gang member in 1996. We were very fortunate that the killer plead guilty and is awaiting execution. Had I had the money to pay lawyers, I would have definitely sued the killer for wrongful death for $1.00 as a matter of principle, even though the killer had no money. Because of his actions, I had to leave my job, spend thousands of dollars in therapy, have a son who never knew his father, am financially struggling, and have an extremely rocky relationship with my family and the family of my late husband, all due to the stress of what the murder did to all of us. Grief ruins relationships. I admire the Goldmans for sticking to their principles regardless of what uninformed people say about them. The killer of Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman got away with it criminally, but whether you like it or not, there IS a civil judgement against OJ Simpson and he DOES owe them money to the tune of 38 million dollars. The Goldmans have EASILY spent millions on their legal representation, not to mention the fact that Mr. Goldman had to leave his job, his daughter had to leave school, and this family was thrust in the spotlight due to Mr. Simpson's actions, and the actions of the general public. Our sick fascination with this story is what has caused these people to have to do what they do. Simply stated, they have every right under the law to own this book and make money from it, as the defendant owes them this money. Mr. Goldman's search for justice is understandable and totally justified. Until you have walked a mile in his shoes, judgement should be reserved. No one knows better than the Goldman family that no amount of money will bring their Ron back! They are not doing this for the money. They are doing this for the principle of the matter. Although they may not have received justice in the criminal trial, the fact is that OJ Simpson was found CIVILLY LIABLE for their Ron's murder, and he does in fact have to pay them money, which is the only form of civil restitution in our society. The fact that Simpson has flaunted his celebrity and has falsely claimed not to have the money to pay the Goldmans is a big, fat lie. This judgement of monetary liability is the ONLY form of justice available to the Goldmans and they are entitled by law to it! And now, following the current news of OJ Simpson's arrest for the robbery in Las Vegas, it only goes to prove that this man feels he is above the law. He is a danger to our society, plain and simple. My wish is that the Goldmans finally see justice served criminally in this case, and that the knowledge of that brings them the peace they deserve. I guarantee you that if that happens, the enforcement of the civil judgement will become less important to them, even though they are entitled to it. Please, everyone, stop judging the victims in this case. You will never know until it happens to you.
Book Review: Change Standard of Proof Summary: 5 StarsThe theory that Simpson is confessing is unsupported by the book itself. The circumstances surrounding the publication of this book makes a compelling argument for raising the standard of proof to clear and convincing evidence in civil proceedings.
Book Review: Don't buy it! Summary: 1 StarsIf you did not have the chance to download this "book" for free before the Goldmans got the "ownership" - DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON IT. There is no "killer's confessions", there is nothing new and this is not a literary work. The Goldmans stopped this book to be published initially on ethic grounds, now is OK (with Goldman references that this "is a book for each abused women out there"). Why wasn't before? The main reason that you shouldn't spend your money on this book is that it doesn't contains anything new or incriminates OJ more than the transcripts of the trial. "Confessions of a killer" is just a childish try to make it sensational with no results at all.
Book Review: SIMPSON HAS GREATLY HURT THE BLACK RACE Summary: 3 StarsSIMPSON HAS HURT THE BLACK RACE'S EFFORTS TO GAIN IN THEIR DRIVE FOR A PLACE IN SOCIETY AND HAS GROSSLY HAD A NEGITIVE EFFECTIVE ON THE JURY SYSTEM'S PURPOSE TO DETERMINE JUSTICE. AL CAPONE AND JOHN GOTTI HAVE EXPERIENCE A FATE THAT HE will FOLLOW. DEATH IN PRISON AFTER YEARS OF TIME SERVED FOR A LESSER CRIMES OF IGNORANCE AND ARRAGANCE............Bud
Book Review: If I Did It Summary: 3 StarsI bought this book because I wish for the Goldman Family to receive the money they should have recieved from the OJ Civil Suit. Sadly, it will not raise their son, bleeding and stabbed to death from the ground of Nicole Brown's condo garden walkway. I will burn this book and not read it. It was clear to me from "both trials" OJ savagely murdered both Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. Unfortunately, the Goldman family can't get "prison type" of justice but perhaps they can get "finanical justice"!
