Book Review: A Great Communcator

I agree with the previous 21 people who have given this book five stars; this is an excellent book.
What is rare about this book is two-fold. First, the author has a very clear idea of what he wants the book to be and to do. It is not generic in its conception or its intended audience. This gives the text a particularly fine focus--everything is geared to the book's concept: provide what is missing in home science, provide it simply but completely, and do so in an engaging manner. Secondly, Mr. Thompson is a gifted technical writer and teacher. The book is exceptionally well organized, both in overall structure and within each chapter. Mr. Thompson also has a very matter of fact manner of plain speaking that makes the book easy to read and understand. Chemistry textbook authors should take note!
Simply the best (only?) book of its kind out there. Very highly recommended.
