`Immediate Action' is Andy McNab's follow up book to `Bravo Two Zero' and looks at his SAS selection, training and career with the SAS up until the gulf war. The sections that covers his selection and training are fascinating and make you appreciate just how hard it is to be a member of the SAS and how much specific training they receive. The various operations he was involved in show the training in action and make for exhilarating reading and also show the variety of events the SAS are involved in. These could be anti terrorist activities in Ireland, assorted intelligence gathering, anti drug operations in Latin America or a whole host of other requirements. This book also shows how hard it is to maintain a solid family life when you are trying to balance your dedication to the SAS and your home life relationships. There is a middle section with various photos, many of which show the equipment used by the SAS. Overall this is an interesting and at times exciting book that shows a certain facet of this elite force. Well worth a look if you enjoyed `Bravo Two Zero' or other SAS/Army themed books.
