Much, much more than a parody of V.I. Lenin's book, Imeperialism, Highest Stage of Capitalism, Bill Warren's work makes a point that in today's globalising world seems to be pure prescience. If Marx did maintain that socialism could only grow out of the contradictions of capitalism, then it is fairly obvious to point out that the world, and not just bits of it, needs to embrace capitalism before any socialist change might be expected. Nearly 30 years since its publication, the book maps more neatly onto the globe than it ever did. This book is not difficult to read. It is not political polemic. In my humble opinion, I think that the general reader would enjoy this book and be astounded at its amazing argument that transformed many on the political left into rampant capitalists - as a way of achieving socialism.
