Book Review: Good For Adults, Less So For Kids

Brian Sack's book about 20 things that his son should know is a mixed bag. Most of the advice is pretty good, some is ok, and some is not so great.
Some of the commentary that I have heard about this book talk about it being very funny. The humor is actually in pretty short supply. I had hoped for something much better since it is endorsed by Glenn Beck who is very funny and also has great thoughts. This is not on a par with Beck's work. Additionally, some of the advice is fairly risque, which seems quite odd in a book meant for one's son.
One of the parts that is not good is 'Fight, Cub'. This chapter is basically one where he intellectualizes about self defense. It is worthless at best and dangerous at worst. Another one that is inferior is 'We'll Need to Talk'. This is about the birds and the bees and is rather inappropriate for younger readers, which is odd considering this is geared toward the author's young son. Another section that is just meaningless is 'Deferred Pay' which is about pursuing acting as a career. As only a tiny amount of people ever do that, one wonders what the point could possibly be.
Some of the other parts are ok and some are really quite good. Overall, this is pretty good and mildly entertaining for adults and not much good at all for youngsters.
