Book Review: "Inspirational!"

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr Saran this past year at a cooking class I assisted with at Sur La Table in Kirkland, Wa. After assisting Mr Saran and participating in the class itself, in addition to tasting the delicious Indian foods he prepared, I felt compelled to buy his cookbook. I have always loved Indian food, but felt too intimidated by the spices, to even try and cook it on my own. Mr Saran's methods of instructing, vast array of information and suggestions, gave me the courage I needed to attempt this wonderful cuisine. After buying the cookbook, I found a group of 4 other women who were also interested in cooking Indian food, found an Indian grocery within minutes of my house, and off I went.
Since then, my friends and I have had several dinner parties using the recipes in this cookbook. This cookbook truly inspired me and gave me the confidence I needed to prepare Indian food. Mr Saran has done an exceptional job explaining the recipes, and the photographs in the book are stunning as well. This cookbook is an excellent introduction to Indian cuisine and a great resource.
