This is an ambitious attempt to present the major players and some of the relative unknowns in the industrial music scene from th 70's to present in an encyclopedic format.

There are shortcomings - for one, a work like this is perpetually incomplete, and, as it was published in 1994, dated. It is most useful as a music guide for those who have come into the industrial scene late in the game, say, post 1990, but it also serves as an introduction to newer acts that may have been overlooked.

This is not a documentation of the industrial movement in music - there _is_ an editorial voice to the work, and it is generally fair and accurate. The research on the pioneers of the movement is detailed, and is helpful in filling the information gaps that even glassy-eyed connoisseurs of industrial music possess.

If this book were to be updated in a release about twice as thick, I would increase my rating accordingly.
