Book Reviews of Infected: A NovelBook Review: A little less SQUICK, please! Summary: 3 Stars
After his prior thrill-a-second cliffhangers (Ancestor, Earthcore), I expected more from Sigler in his hardcover debut. With a great premise, and his trademark high-speed action, this could have been much better than it was. The problem lies in Sigler's "squick" factor. The whole novel is geared to the tastes of a (young) teenage boy, with more blood, pus, vomit and putrefaction than any other reader can stand. I love his plots, his editing is fine, and his technology is sharp...but I really hope his next novel puts a little more effort into defining his characters and a little less into finding every possible way to utilize bodily fluids for maximum gross-out effects.
Book Review: A must for any SciFi or Horror fan Summary: 5 Stars
Sigler develops realistic characters and believable situations in this fast-paced thriller. He tells a story in a way that no one else can.
Reading this book is enough to make you want to scour you skin with a wire brush every time you get an itch.
Go buy the book, now!
Book Review: A new master in horror-fiction. Summary: 5 Stars
Infected is a hardcore thrill-ride that follows an aggressive, intelligent disease that turns its poor victims into serial killers.
The writing is sharp, stylish and moves at pace, never letting you put the book down.
Sigler's a big fan of Stephen King, but it can't be long before the apprentice passes the master.
He's gonna be huge, people. Get on board at the beginning and enjoy the ride!
Book Review: A well crafted page turner. Summary: 5 Stars
As a sci-fi novel, it goes to some neat places and I appreciate Sigler's talent at using Sci-Fi as the delivery mechanism for a good horror/thriller story. There's some pretty spectacular gore and the climax is quite satisfying, with just a quick mention of the loose ends that will lead to quite an entertaining series. Kudos to whoever was in charge of typesetting the book. There's some word art that manages to capture the unique experience of LISTENING to Scott Sigler directly in print.
Book Review: Alien parasites? In your body? It's likelier than you think Summary: 4 Stars
This book is a gripping read and is a must for anyone who loves horror or thriller novels. It is, however, very violent, but don't let that put you off.
