Book Reviews of Infected: A Novel

Book Review: it's spreading.......
Summary: 5 Stars

I have listened to Scott's work since I first started podcasting and I must say that he really got me hooked on the whole "listening to novels" instead of reading thing. Though I do still read and have been a very avid reader since childhood. The way he reads his books.....well I wouldn't advise to listen in a dark room......unless you are like me and like being scared to where you can't get your eyes to shut for the rest of the night.

Typical sci-fi or horror this it NOT. Sigler takes us back to the 80's when King was still in his right mind and his novels/movies had you on the edge of your seat and then laying awake at night. The story moves at a good pace, not a lot of setup to get mired down in but straight to heart-thumping action! Sigler takes NO ONE alive! Thanks for the heart-check Sigler, yup, there and working!

I have to admit I don't read many actual "books", not the tree killing kind anyway, BUT in support for our Future Dark Overlord and all the wonderful novels he has passed on to us, his loyal followers, I bought 3 copies and slide them into the local library's system......shhhh.......it's Review: neat idea, poor execution
Summary: 2 Stars I was pleasantly suprised to see that the book was set partially in Ann Arbor, the town I'm currently living in. I could appreciate the casual references to local bars or nearby sports teams, but I don't think they really added anything to the story, and they often came across as awkward and pandering. In fact, much of the writing seems stilted, although there are certain parts that are a lot of fun to read. The author seems to be a big fan of Chuck Palahniuk, but doesn't have the ability to pull off the same effortlessness and charm, although I did appreciate some of the font tricks he used to add life to certain conversations.

I thought the villain was a pretty neat idea, and so I'd recommend skimming the book for the interesting parts rather than wading through the whole thing. I enjoyed several chunks of the book, but if I hadn't gotten it as a free download promotion, I'd have felt cheated.

Book Review: perfect...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a spectacular piece of sci-fi fiction writing. As a self-professed aficionado, I give this the highest recommendation. Seriously... it is an amazing ride!

Book Review: scary, gross and pretty great
Summary: 4 Stars

this is one crazy book. ive never read anything with so much blood and gore, its a pretty wild ride that does not slow down. i thought the characters were believable for the most part and i was interested to see what would happen to them, especially perry. scott sigler has a sick imagination but he puts it to good use.
