Book Review: Great but harsh reality

This book is a master piece! still has the great feel with grainy film. Printed perfectly. Nevertheless it is a book you have to look at a bit at a time. very hard images of people suffering immensely. Nevertheless the composition of some images are just great. 500+ pages of beauty even though the subject is not beautiful due to its theme. if you are passionate about photo jurnalism this is the equivalent of the Bible or any religious book you follow.Book Review: Great photo-journalism

I am priviledged to have had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Nachtwey about his book inferno. Speaking with him made me feel much better about looking at the book. As a documentary photographer myself, I am aware of how people could be taken advantage of by the photographer.It comforted me to hear Mr. Nachtwey speak in length and in detail about the empathy he has for the people in the photographs.
What is most important, is that he is making these photographs for the people in them, not for himself.

I have only but seen a few of the pictures yet my heart is hardened with sorrow and grief. Thinking it could have been me, wondering why it was not me. My tears stream down my face knowing there is little I can do. But the pictures are too hard to ignore...yet I see hope. James has taken a great step to help heal their wounds....but it is time we too took a part to help lessen their pain. Because if it were you and me.....we would only hope that they will hear our cries and share in our pain. For no man is worth living like that.
