Book Reviews of Inferno

Book Review: Mind blowing
Summary: 5 Stars

Having met James and briefly discussing his work, only makes me appreciate the book that much more. When I asked him why he did what he did and why he risked life and limb to capture some of these images, he simply replied "People have got to know."

Thumb through the book, I am sure you'll agree.

Book Review: NOT A FIRST EDITION
Summary: 1 Stars

The site lists this as a first edition, it is not. This is a 2007 reprinting. If that does not matter to you, go ahead and buy it, it is an amazing volume.

Book Review: Never Makes It Past The Bookshelf
Summary: 5 Stars

A point or two I would like to make. While the photographs are good the message is lost to all but a few... these are usually other photographers. I know who the photographer is and I know he shills for Canon cameras...take that for what it's worth. One glance at the book and you put it down...you got the message. These $100 books just don't commuicate to a large audience. Fine ART books can afford to be this way...most ART is over priced anyway. This particular book should be a text book at all US colleges...High Schools also. This book should be required reading for all conservatives in this country. This book should be posted at all car dealerships selling Hummers and military like SUV's and oversized war machine looking trucks....and given away free at all rock and rap concerts. This book should be mandatory reading for all the current US presidents and their homeboys and girls. I'm a photographer and I would buy the book...but until it can be made avaliable in another way all I can do is look at it and put it back on the store shelf. Guilt or sympathy means nothing to an audience that can't gain access. This book should have been a giveaway. Forget about copies to the military. I was in the military...we were trained to kill...I got back alive.

Book Review: Oh Lord how could this be your will . . .
Summary: 5 Stars

A shocking collection of atrocities during the past decade. I am temporarily comforted knowing this profound documentation will be available for future generations. The size of the heavy cloth book, a whopping 15" x 11" is a clever touch because it makes the book that much more difficult to ignore. The photos of Rwanda,Zaire, Somalia and Romania are especially gruesome. These images, which are like a swinging skillet hitting you in the face, are dripping with humanity.

Book Review: Photojournalism par excelence
Summary: 5 Stars

Look! I am photojournalist myself. I was in Eritrea, Sudan, Northern Ireland, there was a 10 days war in my home country in June 1991. I met Mr. Nachtwey personally and he sat down and chat with me for an hour. He is diferent with his aproach to human from other photographers who feeds theirs ego with quasi art and self assigments. Nachtwey showed us how should photojournalism think on human not just to look photographically through your vallet. Bravo! Excellent book
