Book Review: Exciting Sequel
Summary: 4 Stars

Cornelia Funke masterfully introduces the world of Inkheart in this sequel to her aptly-named first book of the series. For lovers of Inkheart, the thirst to learn more about what goes on in the world which Dustfinger and the fire-raisers come from is quenched. Pulling the book from our world into a whole new world, one where mourning princes and supersticious kings rule, where fairies roam in the Wayless Wood, where street performers find refuge with a man called the Black Prince, Funke introduces an entirely new dimension to her already fascinating series. Characters try to rewrite the story in the book within the book. A battle brews. Romance blossoms in a world of no tomorrows. Funke's lyrical prose and intriguing plot twists create a book well-worthy of its predecessor. She introduces new and complex sides to characters that we only thought we knew. Inkspell truly epitomizes the belief that good fiction creates its own reality.

Book Review: Good Second Book in the Trilogy
Summary: 4 Stars

Inkspell carries the themes, characters and plot forward from Inkheart, as some of the characters move from our world to the inkworld and come face to face with the fantasy conjured by the mind and writing of Fenoglio who finds his pen continues to create as he lives in his own created world. The story is exciting and holds plenty of suprises and twists. The characters become more developed, and it is interesting how the inkworld characters illustrate a certain fantastical quality that is in line with being made up by Fenoglio. What I found tedious were some of the redundant situations such as Basta and Mortola arriving again at Elinor's and taking everyone captive, etc. We already went through this. I also found that this book had more chapters with little or no action. Even so, it is a worthy ready and enjoyable.

Book Review: Great Book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a passion for writing and reading any story I come across, especially stories that have a more outdoor or fantasy theme. Though whenever I try to write fictional work, such as fantasy, then I have trouble. Any ideas I think of I forget when I actually start writing and so that's the why I like "Inkspell," because it's about someone who loves books but the ideas disappear when she actually starts writing. I think the reasons ideas disappear when you write is because you're getting involved in a whole new world and it is very confusing to get used to that. This book is a sequel to "Inkheart," which is the first of a trilogy about this family that can read characters out of books, or in this case, read themselves into the book.

The first thing I'd like to congratulate the writer on is the fact that the story is very unique. I've yet to see a book about characters that can read other characters out of books and the way it is written is very well thought out. This story was very well thought out and a book with this much creativity can only be an awesome story indeed. I think the author could relate to the characters that she was writing about, as the characters are very unique and full of life. This could only be accomplished if the author had a lot of care and love for the characters that she was writing about. She paints their stories, emotions and thoughts with care that is gained only with years of writing experience. "Inkspell" is a true masterpiece in every way, the thought and detail put into this story made it into a story that will be known for years to come.
