Book Review: Recommended, but just leaves you wanting a little more.....

After reading many of Dr Phil's books, I was intrigued to read this account of his wife Robin McGraw's perspective on life. An enjoyable and easy read, it has received some criticism for its lack of flow and rather simplistic text. However, Robin's passion as a mother and a wife emerges throughout and she recounts some touching life experiences to illustrate her ethos on the way she lives her life, which is very motivational to the reader. She is clearly a truly lovely person, with an open and honest heart, and is an excellent role model for all women and mothers who read this book.
I was however, left wanting more. I was hoping to read the journey of how she had adapted to her husbands rise to fame, with a discussion of her feelings and the events as they happened for her over this past six or seven years since Dr Phil first met Oprah Winfrey and their lives changed so dramatically. The overwhelming majority of this is not included - which was a little disappointing. Many of the events described in the book had been previously mentioned or touched upon in the show i.e Dr Phil writing poetry for their anniversary years, and it would have been so interesting to read the story of their adaptation to fame.
This aside though, I really would recommend this book. It is an uplifting read and rightly confirms Robin's role in supplementing and supporting Dr Phil's "feminine side" during his shows!
