Book Reviews of Interview with the Vampire

Book Review: kitsch, yet quite readable
Summary: 3 Stars

this book is really quite okay. however, if you, like me, tend to find it painful when all the characters are "dazzlingly beautiful" and driven by the most profound passions - while at the same time the reader does not learn anything particularly new and certainly does not gain any kind of awareness - then leave it. it won't get much better than what it begins as - a soap opera, quite colorful and fun sometimes.

Book Review: It's the best book i have read!
Summary: 5 Stars

I think "Interview wiht the vampire" it's the best book I have read. I look at the movie first and I like it very much. A friend of mine say to me at I most read the book, and ofcourse I did! I can just say one thing: I love the book!

Book Review: One of the best books I have ever read!
Summary: 5 Stars

A lame excuse I know, but the only reason I read this was because this was where Savage Garden got the inspiration for their name! I didn't really know what to expect. What I was confronted with was a masterpiece of the English language, her use of imagery far excelled any other book I have ever written. Vampires are not characters that I would usually have any empathy for, but this book displayed the many human features that she thought vampires possess. Louis was brought into the vampire world unwillingly by Lestat and had created for him a vampire child named Claudia. Claudia was my favourite character in this book, I felt sympathy for her as she became a mature woman trapped inside the body of a ten year old and this is somthing she resented. This is my favourite book as I never tire of the rich tapestry of language, therefore I would recommend this book to anyone - it's certainly a challenge, but a very fulfilling one!

Book Review: A man gifted with eternal life and a craving for human blood
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is the first of the brilliant Vampire Chronicles, written by Anne Rice. We are told the story via an interview, which a boy has of a vampire. It begins with a man, Louis, mourning for his dead brother, eager to die but too scared to murder himself. He walks down dark back allies and encourages an attacker but he will never die,he has been gifted with everlasting life, he longs to drink warm human blood, because he is......a vampire.

Book Review: OK read, but not brilliant
Summary: 3 Stars

Interview with a Vampire is quite a good read, however the plot does not seem to go anywhere. It simply traces a couple of centuries in the (un)life of Louis, a vampire made in the 18th century. It is set in period America and Europe. Ann Rices decriptions of the emotions and ideals of the vampire are first class and she really captures the stark contrast for an entity which is quite human, yet is cursed with the need to prey on humanity to survive.

It does however serve to set the scene for the other novels in the series
