Book Review: 5 star content, 1 star material quality
Summary: 2 Stars
Like several others here, I too experienced pages quickly falling out of the book within days of use. This, even after I made sure to be extra gentle in handling it.
Of course, reading the reviews, I halfway expected this. What I didn't expect to find were 33 missing pages (no these didn't fall out, the numbering goes from 206 to 239 in my copy), and I haven't yet verified if there are any others missing yet as I'm only a little over a third of the way through the book.
The author is quite adept at making an insanely complicated and initially intimidating piece of software into an comfortable and enjoyable learning experience.
It's just a shame that the publisher hasn't put a stop on the inventory and re-issued the book but rather is content to let the remainder of the stock go out as is. Perhaps they're focusing on putting together a better quality book for the 2010 edition yet to be released.
Whatever the reason, this is a still a mark of shame for the publisher. The author's content however, is mostly flawless.
I also purchased a copy of the same publisher's "Mastering Maya 2009" which is larger. Here's hoping my experience with that book is better.
