Book Reviews of Jack's GardenBook Review: A book worth getting Summary: 5 Stars
I'll share the review I wrote for The Home School Manual ======= Jack's Garden "This is the garden that Jack planted." The first double-spread illustration with these words shows Jack on the bare ground. Next, "This is the soil that made up the garden that Jack planted" and an underground picture of various creatures. The story repeats on each page spread adding a new line. This book is a winner. Excellent for reading practice and excellent for science with all the insects, birds, plants and so on illustrated and named.
Book Review: Excellent plant book! Summary: 5 Stars
This book is outstanding! Far from being for just the pre-school/younger elementary set, it has a wealth of information which even older kids can benefit from. In addition to the text based on the House That Jack Built, it has labeled drawings of garden tools, insects in the soil, seeds, clouds, parts of plants, plants, butterflies, birds, and other insects. We (my kids ages 4 thru 10 and I) had fun pointing out the things we know and learning the ones we didn't. The illustrations are excellent- colorful and detailed. This book is a wonderful addition to homeschool unit studies on plants.
Book Review: For any friend of the earth Summary: 5 Stars
There's a reverence for gardening, nature, farming, ecology, every page. The build-up of the text is like a Mother Goose rhyme. A pleasure to read and study for anyone, of any age, who loves flowers and vegetable gardening. Though its recommends as a early reading picture book, as a former teacher, I also recommend it up through high school for botany, environmental studies, 4-H, or Future Farmers of America club participants to look at too, because of its emphasis on the total ecological system.
Book Review: Great gardening book for young children Summary: 5 Stars
This book is a great introduction to gardening for young children. The text is clear and repetitive. The illustrations are colorful, detailed, and attractive. Many important concepts of gardening such as soil, rain, seeds, insects, and tools are introduced in an appealing way. There is lots to look at and talk about on each page.
Book Review: Jacks Garden Summary: 5 Stars
The book is full of great illustrations . It would surely inspire any child to want his/her own garden .
