Book Reviews of Jacob Have I LovedBook Review: Is Your Future Predetermined? Summary: 5 Stars
In biblical times Jacob and Esau were brothers. And you'd think since they were twins they'd be treated pretty much alike, but they weren't. It turns out that Jacob is given the "Blessing" even though Esau is the first one born and traditionally entitled to this favored treatment. It turns out, too, that fate had predetermined this.
In this modern-day story, Sara Louise, like Esau--a twin and first born--feels unloved and unable to get the respect and attention her prettier, more talented and better-liked twin sister, Caroline, enjoys. And Sara feels jealousy and bitterness. Was this predetermined, too? Is this her unhappy fate? Even she is not sure. And it will be tough for you to decide, too,...until the end. (Suitable for junior high and up.)

Book Review: It made me laugh, it made me cry... Summary: 4 Stars
I really enjoyed reading this book. Although I could not really relate to the main character, I could take pity on her, that is what made me cry! Along with the sympathy, I could laugh at it also. It is a very well written book of fiction. If you enjoy good, "recreational" reading, you should buy this book.
Book Review: It was TERRIFIC!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Patterson really describes Sara Louise's change throughout the story and really shows how two sisters can love and he another!! An exceptionally well written book! A must read for any teenage girl!!
Book Review: It was okay. Summary: 4 Stars
It got out to a slow start. After about one hundred or so pagesI finally got interested in it. I think that the writer should havekept writing because I didn't want it to end. It was a pretty good book.
Book Review: Jacob Summary: 3 Stars
Jacob have I loved by Katherine Paterson taught me a lot about living on a small Island. Another thing that I learned about is crabbing and getting through storms. In this book the main character Louise lives on Rass Island. Louise's sister Caroline is the family favorite, everything about Caroline is better then her. Caroline is an amazing singer and since there so close in age they are constantly compared. When ever there Grandma who lives with them tells their birth story they can't remember what happened to Louise. Louise is sick and tired of being behind Caroline which makes her want to leave the Island. Louise has only one friend which is Cal her and Cal go crabbing together and are best friends. Then one day someone strange came to the Island this was very surprising because on one new ever comes to the Island. Louise and Cal try to figure out who has come to the island and end up becoming very good friends with him. They call him Captain. Later on when they get older Cal leaves to fight in the war and Caroline goes to New York to sing. Louise is the only one left and she wants to go to a place where there are mountains. In the end Cal and Caroline get married. Louise makes her dream come true and goes to the mountains and gets married.
I don't think that this book was very exciting to read because I was very long and had a boring story. I wasn't able to feel like I was in the book because I couldn't relate to Louise's life. There were many conflicts in this book. The conflicts were interesting because this wasn't just a typically story. Another reason is because there was always something going on. I think that the characters in this book could have been real because, they seemed like normal Island people. I think that the ending was the best part because, it was fast moving unlike the rest of the book which was very slow paced. Also because it completed the story of the characters life's and what happened to them when they were older.
The author's voice was clam and relaxing. The story was written from a prospective of someone watching everything going on. The author used a very descriptive vocabulary to describe what the characters were going through. One of the author's unique characteristics included being very descriptive so that you could imagine what was going on. Another unique characteristic that the author used was telling a full story of the characters lives. The author was very descriptive and also used dialogue well so you know when someone is talking. The tone through out the book was clam. I think that the authors writing style was really good and, I liked how she told a full story of the characters lives.
I would rate this book a six out of ten because the story got very boring at times. Also because the begging was very slow moving. I did like that it wasn't just a typical story and I also liked the author writing style. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a unique story and a slow paced book. Compare to other books that I have read this book would be average.
Overall this book was ok. This book has won a Newberry medal I think that this book won it for its unique story and its message of always reach for your dreams. This book was very well written. From this book I learned if you try hard enough that anything is possible. Another thing that I learned is not to care what others think of you all that matters is what you think of yourself. If your looking for a book with a good story and that is slow paced Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson is for you.
