Book Review: facinating but incoherent

just a quick one.
as a japan obsessive i found this book really interesting. it is the account of a documentory film maker's year in japan, trying to fine the spirit of japan.
it is facinating from a gijins point of view, but at times (particually in the first 4 or 5 chapters) it is quite hard to understand what the writer is getting at. often it feels like sections of a chapter have been cut out, because it feels like she jumps form one part of a story to the end a bit erratically.
i took a star of for that but still gave her 4 because of the great content.
a must read for any gijin who wants to live in japan.
