Book Reviews of Johnny The Homicidal Maniac: Director's Cut

Book Review: Frustration
Summary: 4 Stars

While the "Meanwhiles" aren't included, this is still great for Nny fans to see older drawings and stuff from Jhonen. My only problem was how the book itself was put together.

The pages literally FELL OUT OF THE BOOK not two hours after I'd gotten it in the mail. While the pages are still okay, the fact that it fell apart on me was an annoyance.

I'd suggest the hard cover of the Director's cut if anything. Hopefully that's put together a little better.

Book Review: the best comic I have ever read...
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my absolute favorite comic book in the world, so my review might be a little biased, but I think that Jhonen Vasquez is an amazing artist and writer and I commend him on his excellent book. I love the director's cut edition because it had extras in the back and notes from Vasquez which the others don't have. Also, everybody loves Nny, so I would have just gotten the book to see him. If you love dark humor, satire and social commentary, and can appreciate a sort of warped, twisted sense of humor, this book is definitely for you.

Book Review: prepare thyself before reading...
Summary: 5 Stars

First and foremost, this book is not for those of you who may be squemish. The artwork is stellar, even considering it's all black and white. I find the killing and the grotesque humor amusing, as would any fan of the book....but look deeper and you shall see that Johnny C. is not stupid. He has a deep, albeit troubled, mind. I enjoy several philosophies that are expounded on during the course of these adventures. I would reccomend the book to any who enjoy blood and bad humor, and to any who would like something to ponder about on a rainy afternoon trapped indoors. [Z?]

Book Review: Did you say... Wacky?
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to say, this is the most amazing book ever. A forum introduced me to Invader Zim, and after researching into that, I found JTHM. So I decided to buy the book. And let me tell you, I did not regret it. It was worth every single penny.

Everything about the book is just... simply amazing. The graphics, the storyline, and the comical side of it all. As some people might think it's just basically him killing all the time, I have to say, massacres don't occur on every single page. There are some points where Nny goes into a suicidal or depressed state, and when he does go about killing people, it's put into a comical way.

Also, there is Nny's own little comics put in there: Happy Noodle Boy. This is also a hillarious comic, where a strange stick figure goes about screaming random things. ("I sense your envy of my neck! And I don't blame you!")

If you like gory deaths, dark storylines, and random things, this comic is for you.

Book Review: I know a lot of people are going to click "not helpful"...
Summary: 2 Stars

...but this really didn't do it for me. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons of Zim (before it got a bit dull), so I thought I'd try this out, especially after seeing the glowing reviews. Sorry, I could only read about a third of the book. It's just not my idea of entertainment. I mean, where does it go? Just killing, killing, killing...I can play GTA for that, and get a more interesting storyline. It just seemed repetitive and pointless. If the whole book had been 8 pages long, I probably would've enjoyed it more.

Jhonen, good luck on your next project. You really are brilliant; I just hope you come up with something that expresses that brilliance to its full.
