This book is a great book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Its about Dr. Grant and some of his friends beeing invited to Jurassic Park. When they get their they think its going to be a blast, but they soon find out that its not what they wanted it to be. On their first ride around the park somthing very bad happens. Read the book to find out what happens; Its alot better than the movie.

Book Review: * * * * * * SIX STARS
Summary: 5 Stars

Hail to Michael Crichton! Jurassic Park is yet another stunning piece of work from Crichton that causes voluntary insomnia -- you just won't sleep until you've finished reading it. And I'm sure that wasn't just a figure of speech to many readers. I've read many, many science fictions, but none came even close to Crichton's works. P.s. The movie version may has amazing FXs, but it has skipped essentially all the good parts of the book. Read it, and you'll agree with me.

Book Review: 4 1/2 Stars: Very Good, but A Little Overrated
Summary: 4 Stars

This book is an excellent read, but don't be fooled by all of the comments and praise for this book: it is NOT Crichton's best ever. That distinction belongs to Sphere, or maybe even Disclosure. It is very good, even addictive, and it is entertaining, but it is simply overrated. Crichton brings us a story about an island devoted to dinosaurs run by an eccentric old man with deep pockets. Inevitably, something goes horribly wrong, and people start dropping like flies as the remaining ones struggle to remain alive. It is a lot different than the movie, and it is undeniably better, even though I liked the movie a lot. It certainly ends differently. All in all this is a standout book, but a bit overrated, and not Crichton's best.

Book Review: A Dark, Exciting, and Engaging Techno-Thriller!
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw the film JURASSIC PARK and loved it (who didn't?). Steven Spielberg had once again proved his genious. Later, I decided to read the book by Michael Crichton. I loved it just as much, if not more, than the film.
It was my first Crichton book, and I was very impressed by his talent of weaving science and probability in his mile-a-minute plot lines. The movie plot closely followed that of the book, and in the few places where it differed, I found I preferred the book.
The plot follows a businessman who creates a theme park out of cloned dinosaurs. He invites various paleontologists and scientists to test it out before it opens, but the dinos break loose and wreak havoc. That sounds groan-inducing, but Crichton uses at least 1/4th of the book it establishing the back-up science to make it almost believable.
Highly recommended.

Book Review: A Fantasically Frightening Book
Summary: 5 Stars

"Jurassic Park" is Michael Crichton's best book, and that's saying a lot. The idea of bringing dinosaurs back to life will resonate with anyone who has ever been fascinated by these amazing creatures. Crichton's science, although fictional, seems so utterly plausible, and that makes it all the more magical and frightening. The writing is smooth and fluid, moving seamlessly from one episode to the next, and eventually effortlessly weaving several storylines together. The reader is hooked from the very first page. Don't start this book late at night!

The only places where the action lags is when the character of Ian Malcolm discourses on scientific and environmental ethics. The character is obviously a mouthpiece for Crichton himself, and although the ideas he presents are definitely thought-provoking, they come off as a little preachy and heavy-handed.

This is a terrific book, full of suspense, clever ideas, and likeable characters.
