Book Reviews of Jurassic Park

Book Review: ACE says "If you haven't read the book, READ IT NOW!!!"
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a splendid book! I read the book before I watched thewfilm, and I found the book better suited to my imagination, but thefilm was also very good. The way Crichton managed to captivate the reader from start to finish made this a truly excellent "un-put-downable" read! Also, the Lost World is much different to the film; another masterpiece, from the master.

Book Review: AWESOME 5 Stars

This book is awesome! Of all of the sci-fi thrillers I have read, Jurassic Park is #1. This book is hard to put down and has non-stop action. A must read and must buy! The plot of this book is when a rich man, John Hammond, buys a secluded island off Costa Rica. He hires the best of the best scientists to create bioengineered dinosaurs from fossiled amber. He invites 2 paleontoligists (Alan Grant & Ellie Sattler) , a lawyer (Donald Genarro), and a mathematician (Ian Malcolm) to tour the island. Eventually it turns to disaster . . . A MUST READ!!!

Book Review: AWESOME. One of the best books ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

I loved this book. I read it when I was around 12 and did'nt really understand it. Now, im 16 and I just finished reading it again. This book is better than the movie, but then again, which book isnt. Even though this isnt the best Crichton novel ever,(SPHERE deserves that title) it is still an awesome book.

Book Review: Abridged Version - read/listen to the full
Summary: 4 Stars

I listened to this book as an abridged (I couldn't find unabridged) audio book, so my review may differ from that of other readers.
Having seen the Jurassic Park movies multiple times each, I was actually quite surprised how this story seemed to have parts from all of the movies in it. It makes me excited to read/listen to The Lost World next. I read on Wikipedia that Crichton helped to write the screenplay for the Jurassic Park movie, but neither of the sequels.
The book is well written with good characters. Like I said, I listened to the abridged version, so I wish it would have gone into more details about some scenes and situations that would have had more detail otherwise. Overall a very good and compelling read.

Book Review: Absolutely gripping, but pure drivel
Summary: 1 Stars

I read this book in only one day because it was so gripping, but was left with little to show for my time. Crichton's cartoonish portrayal of dinosaurs, overstated morality play, and psuedo-scientific mumbo jumbo is exciting, but is ultimately hollow and pointless. If you have eight or nine hours to waste go for it. At least it's better than the movie.
