Book Review: "Just As Long As We're Together"

The book "Just As Long As We're Together" is an awesome realistic fiction book by the author Judy Blume. This book takes place in a little neighborhood where three friends meet when they all move there one summer. The protagonists are Rachel, Stephanie (Steph) and Alison. The antagonist is the differences between them. The story is told in first person through Stephanie's point of view. I would say that Alison is a confidant to Stephanie more than Rachel is because Steph sometimes doesn't like to tell Rachel things because she thinks that Rachel will think she's immature. I think the theme of this story is that your best friends will always love you no matter what happens. One of the main conflicts in this story is that Stephanie's parents become separated and Steph doesn't realize it until her parents come right out and tell her. When she lies about it to her friends but Rachel finds out anyways, it results in a huge fight that might just ruin their friendship forever. I thought this book was very fun and entertaining to read. It also shows how friends can stick together through the toughest of times, and how they can support each other even when they are hurt. I think the author of this story had something like this happen to her when she was young because she describes it with great detail. My favorite character in this story was Alison because she is very understanding towards Stephanie at her times of need, and she is really weird and fun to read about. My favorite scene in the book is when Rachel and Stephanie walk each other home over and over again because that is when they finally make up from their extremely long fight. I would definitely recommend this book to any girl probably near the ages of 10 to 14. It is very sweet and funny, and it is a nice light read. I would give this book a rating of four out of five stars.
