This book is a very in depth micro-analysis of the particular details and legal-wranglings that led to the internment of 112'000 Ethnic Japanese during World War Two. The author, a lawyer by proffession, uses his skills to take a look at the legal history and concerns of both the plans drawn up before war and the subsequent legislation that led to internment.Following the cases of four Japanese Americans that have gone to the supreme court to have their detententions wiped out from their records, the author takes a heart warmingly personal view of what would have otherwise been a very long and boringly critical account of legal history.
The author also provides useful information on public opinion and the attitudes of the Japanese community both before and during internment. Although this information is only provided to back up the legal stand point, it is extremely useful nonetheless.
