Book Review: "KtM" Thank You Toya for all your help

My 9th Grade English teacher has assigned us to read this novel by Sarah Dessen "Keeping the Moon" or as we call it "KtM'. The book is a good one that takes place in Colby, N.C. and the main character is Colie. Colie used to be overwieght and she doesn't have a lot of self-confidence. She then moves in with her Aunt Mira and meets two girls that become her friends and help her become more confident in herself. When I first looked at the cover of the book and read the description on the back, I immediatly thought it had something to do with girls and girls helping eachother. You might get the impression from my review that I, as a boy, didn't enjoy the book, but I still think males can get valuable stuff out of this book.
Well, don't get me wrong or anything but I did like this book and enjoyed it, but my types of books are fiction novels of history. I did enjoy how Sarah Dessen wrote this book and I could really relate to this book in a lot of ways. One of the main ways I can relate to the book is just how the girls' friendships were. The three girls including Colie were three totally different people and argued a lot but at the same time they all three were best friends. Now I can relate to this too because a lot of my best friends are different and we argue a lot but that is part of having a good friendship sometimes.
One of the main themes of this novel had a lot to do with friendship and friends helping eachother, which in today's society I do not think would interest most males. Most males these days want to read books about action and war, and most females would rather read about girl power and friendship. I really do think that most girls would enjoy this book more than boys.
Even though I have stated that this book would intrest more girls than boys, I overall really did enjoy the book. It wasn't one of those books were I would fade off while just reading the words off the page and not even know what I was reading. The book did catch my intrest a lot of times and I did really enjoy it. I definitely did appreciate the way Sarah Dessen wrote, and me being a male, am definatly interested in reading more of Sarah Dessen's books.
Sarah Dessen has written a great book "Keeping the Moon" that I did really like but it wasn't my favorite. I think that most females would really like this book and you never know, guys go out and try to read this book, you might like it too!
