Book Reviews of Kendo: The Definitive GuideBook Review: Kendo!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
Great book. Hard to do on your own. You relly need a class and a great teacher it is all just self-taught, poor technique that will get you disqualified.
Book Review: More than just technique... Summary: 5 Stars
The path of the sword is not taken lightly. It involves practice, improvment and confidence in the technique. This book is a good way to get you started. It covers basic techniques, ettiquette, terms and some very good advice. I would recommend this book along with "Iai, the art of drawing the sword" by Darrel Craig as these books compliment each other very well.
Book Review: Must-have for beginners and up Summary: 4 Stars
The book includes history, training philosophy, instructions for equipment, basic footwork and strikes, techniques, kata and even tournament regulations. It has almost everything you would need to know about.I have to work a little to find the information I need, as (of course) Ozawa organizes information differently from the way it's presented to students in the school that I attend. But it's all there, if you know what you're looking for. It's unfortunate that there isn't any information on shinai or armor maintenance. This book is an excellent guide throughout your Kendo training.
Book Review: Not exactly "definitive" Summary: 5 Stars
