Book Reviews of Kids Are Americans TooBook Review: Good Civics Starter Book Summary: 4 StarsMost who castigate Bill O'Reilly are those who have preconceived notions of who he is by watching YouTube clips! Put those aside for a second are realize that he loves the USA and wants to protect kids. One of the ways to protect kids is to empower them with the knowledge of what the process was to get where we are and what kids can do to help this country move forward. This book successfully completes this mission more like a civics course than a political science course. My 12 year-old daughter tore through it in 2 days and loved it. "Not too easy, but not too hard," she said. It left her wanting to learn more, and that is the sign of a good teacher!
Book Review: Kids Are Americans Too Summary: 3 StarsBeing a fan of Bill, I was anxious to read this latest book. In it I found many valuable tools for young people to learn and use. Granted, although some may find it a tad boring, it still contains valuable information for ALL citizens (and non-citizens, such as undocumented...) to know and digest. Probably make a good text for middle schoolers. Charles A. Reap Jr., author, "Devil's Game" and "My Friend Sam."
Book Review: Please Don't Write a Kids Book Summary: 2 StarsI normally like Bill O'Reilly but this book is one that isn't good. This isn't like a liberal review where the person never reads but writes a bad review because the author is a conservative. O'Reilly gives facts about kids rights in this country in school and with their parents. This book is meant to be informative not opinion writing like expected of Bill O'Reilly. The style of this book is horrific. He sound like a lecturing know-it-all. This additude comes off in the Dhue Point segment of O'Reilly when people question him. He comes off like the lecturing parent and then becomes very inconclusive half of the time. This book is formatted like a self help book where side stuff like breaking news and the Interviewing with You( I forgot what it was called) are lame. O'Reilly made up an interveiwing segment in which a kid ask him questions as if he is the ultimately wise grandfather where the kid shakes hands with him as if he is cool. He needs to stink with writing for adults. Both of the kid books had style problems. I am going to put this as the four most overrated books on my blog.
Book Review: Remember who it was written for... Summary: 5 StarsYou have to remember that BillyO wrote this for kids. Young to middle teens, which I have two of 'em.
O'Reilly concisely puts together the government's proper role in deciding disagreements. Anyone who thinks he has distorted THAT, (in this book), simply has no real grasp of the truth.
You can like O'Reilly or hate the ground he walks on but, if you think he is somehow out of bounds on this very informative book, you need to do a self examination AND maybe take an American Government class.
He breaks it down and fairly states the differences on the issues he discusses. It is current, relevant, and well written (IF you are a teenager). It's a little dry for an adult, but I read every page.
*Edited to say - I have now read some other reviews in these threads and let me say this...there are people reviewing this book who only read the left pages because they only have a left eye. If you read some of their OTHER reviews, you'll see that they aren't very "objective" or "fair & balanced" as they would like you to believe.
When you have people saying you should keep your children away from people like Mr. O'Reilly..Oh really? That's not objective stuff. It's from someone who has their underwear on a little tight.
O'Reilly does a good job breaking down the outline of our government and how it is structured to protect our rights. Both my teenagers "get it". If there is a specific challenge to what Mr. O'Reilly is saying, please put it forth.
Book Review: Very positive and informative Summary: 5 StarsI think Bill O'Reilly is very good at making a point about kids are Americans too and it is an easy read and most understandable. I purchased the book for my grandkids, but wanted to read it first.
