Book Review: An Entertaining Surprise

I have never been a fan of S.E Phillips, however when I got this book and started to read it I couldn't put it down (I finished it in less than a day). I loved Daisy, she was sweet, brave, comical and strong. Alex, at times I hated him but I was still rooting for him. I loved his covert efforts. I laughed and cried throughout this book. Heather and Sheba helped round out this story although I disliked Sheba throughout most of this story. I am definitely going to give a few S.E.P books a try.Book Review: As good as it gets!

I love it when I get so pulled into a book that I can't do anything but read it. _Kiss an Angel_ is an example of romance the way it was supposed to be written. If you havn't read anything by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, you simply must! Her writing is vivid, humorous and unique. Her characters come alive for you. I've only read one other book by SEP, but let me tell you, I'm hooked for life. _Kiss an Angel_ has one of the most unique story lines I've ever read in a romance novel. It takes place in a circus. This was new for me, but I totally loved it. Daisy, the main character, is one we can all relate to. SEP makes her startlingly real, and all of what she does as a character is so well written that it is easy to see her motives, Alex, Daisy's husband, is a complex one. He's got so many layers, you wouldn't believe it. Let me just tell you that he's not what he seems. When these two odd balls meet, sparks fly. Daisy was so cute because at the begining of the book, she is terrified of animals, but towards the end, she's got the whole menagerie of the circus eating out of her hand. This is just a metaphor for the change that goes on through her. SEP's writing is so vivid that you will feel like you're in the circus audience watching the show. Alex and Daisy's love is really precious. The humor that is infused in this book is amazing. I've gotten some strange looks for laughing out loud numoress times. So, let me sum up _Kiss and Angel_ for you... it is a fabulous book that any romance lover must have. SEP will blow you away, and I garuntee that you will be coming back for more.Book Review: BLEAK AND DISMAL---

I depend on this author to give me quaint, quirky stories full of laugh-out-loud humor. I could not believe this book. Page after page of cold, self-centered dismay. I kept waiting for the sun to break through the clouds, so-to-speak, but it never happened. The unromantic scene at the end lacked warmth of feeling and was far from anything to cheer about.Book Review: BLOWN AWAY

I had this book for a while before I read it. The back of the cover threw me off. The story sounded a bit silly to me. WOW, I was in for a surprise! I believe there are romance novels and then there are LOVE STORIES that are so deep, so real and so emotional you feel the love as you are reading the book. This is a LOVE STORY told beautifully and emotionally. THERE IS SO MUCH DEPTH TO THIS BOOK, it is a keeper!!!
The depth of the story, the complexity, The evolution of the characters,
The timing was perfect, the book does not slow down or bog down at ANY point.
The secondary characters are interesting with out being overwhelming.
The climax of the book, Is so emotionally charged and gutwrentching.
I appreciate the fact that SEP was courageous enough and respected the reader's intelligence enough to be honest about this story and allow all of the dark VERY DARK ugliness to show.
A lot of authors do not do that.
It is a testament to her talent, that after I finish this book I am unable to move on for quite a long while.
I love SEP's books but this one is now at the top of my list. I hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I have.

I have read most of Phillips book and find each one of them as facisnating as the others. What makes her works so interesting is her ability to create characters that are so real with so much emotion. As you read her books, love will slowly slips into you and you will realize just how much the characters love each other, like Daisy and Alex.
