Book Reviews of Kitchen Confidential Updated E Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (P.S.)

Book Review: Wonderful
Summary: 5 Stars

Bourdain writes with real freshness about the intense, often dangerous world of cuisine. It'll make you think twice about a lot of your eating habits: no reader could ever again order fish on a Monday or order a steak "well done". Bourdain is a novelist of some distinction, and his eye for the telling image or tasty detail is impressive. Very easy to read, funny, entertaining, and original.

Book Review: Very well-written, hilarious, surprisingly interesting.
Summary: 5 Stars

This man can't just cook, he can write. That was my first surprise. The second surprise was realizing how interesting the world of cooking and behind-swinging-doors kitchen life seemed to me after reading this book. He makes what would seem, to me anyway, a mundane and even boring sub-world come very much alive for the reader. Mr. Bourdain obviously loves what he does, and he communicates that love with great joy and, quite often, with the bawdy relish of a teenager telling a dirty joke to his friends.

I couldn't put it down. I laughed out loud. I learned a ton of new information about food, cooking, and the restaurant business. I recommended it to a friend and he loved it. It made me want to meet the author and hang out in his kitchen. What more can you ask for from a book about being a chef?

Book Review: Look out you celeb-chefs !!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This should be compulsory reading in all schools, colleges, toilets, prisons and the government should provide free copies to everyone who doesn't know what a hard day's work is !!!

I read it in a day - couldn't put it down amd now feel more than a little depressed that I can't read on (I will however be going straight out to get 'Bone in the Throat' and 'Gone Bamboo').

I'm not going to re-iterate all the stuff that other reviewers have quite accurately recorded, but I will say that this book make's TV's 'celeb-chefs' look like the complete bunch of tossers that they are. I'm afraid even the brilliant Keith Floyd (if you read this Keith, no offence intended) looks tame compared to characters like 'Bigfoot' or Tyrone or even the author himself...

This exposes the restaurant business as it really is - not the pristine farmhouse kitchen bollocks that we are subjected to on British TV.

I'm going to New York for Christmas, but I'm booking a table at Brasserie Les Halles right now!!!

Well done Mr Bourdain.

Book Review: Best thing I've read in ages
Summary: 5 Stars

This description of a chef's life is one of the best things I've read in a long time. Superbly written, very funny, and informative. It's changed the way I speak when I'm cooking. Find out about knives and the best time to eat in a restaurant.

Book Review: Fantastic view of life in the kitchen
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great insight into the world of food preparation and the chef's lot. Thoroughly enjoyed it and suddenly food took on a whole new meaning!! I think Id like to meet Anthony Bourdain, what an interesting bloke!
