Book Reviews of Kushiel's Dart (Kushiel's Legacy)Book Review: Hurts more than is really necessary Summary: 1 StarsThe rating seems maybe a little unfair, because the story is pretty good, with solid, interesting characters. It has a grand sweep across a semi-familiar world, and you do end up wanting to know what happens to the characters. However, the sexual element of the book just takes over way too much, and for me there was just too much emphasis on the pain side - it gets downright nasty at times. Much as I'd be happy to read the rest of the story, I won't be buying the next books as that just isn't my thing. Shame really - and for readers with kids, put it in the cabinet with the child-proof medication.
Book Review: Complex, compelling...... brilliant! Summary: 5 StarsA compelling read you won't be able to put down! Jacqueline Carey has created a historical fantasy that is more than anyone could dream. The charaters have be created with vivid detail. You can't help to relate at times and understand the stuggles they endure. The vast levels this book reachs is mindblowing. The basics behind the story will keep you reading on and the ending will not be enough to keep you waiting for the next installment. The lead charater Phedre no Delaunay is a young girl entering a new world, she has no idea just how deadly knowledge can be. The development of charater is second to none. The entire world has been masterminded and beautifully expressed in word to take your mind and thought into the lives of the people within it. This book is worth more than just a quick glance, its packed full with everything you could want and more. Its no small read being 701pages but once you get the feel of the book it will fly by and there will be times your emotions get the better of you. The epic struggle will make you laugh, cry and relate. Be brave enter the world and see for yourself, its worth it!
Book Review: Wonderful! Summary: 5 StarsJacqueline Carey has surpassed herself with this book the writing is elegant, the story grabs you and carrys you along with it until you are inside the book. This is the first then Kushiel's Chosen, then Kushiel's Avatar. It is best to read them in order. I would recommend this to anyone who likes good plots and lots of action with a strong female central character.
Book Review: HIdden depths Summary: 5 StarsI picked this book up because the picture caught my attention and the cover notes increased my interest.I loved this book, the story involved me completely. I bought both the sequels and they are great stories too.
Book Review: disappointed Summary: 2 StarsI cannot complain about the writing style for this author. It is really good and very visual. However, this book which focuses on a young girls life who is cursed by a red eye marking her as the Kushiel's Dart didn?t take off. There is lots of detail about her life, how she grew and learned how to be a spy and courtesan. But the political thread through this book didn?t hold my interested, even as well written as it was. Not enough magic and strange happenings in this book for me.
