Book Review: A terrific first novel
Summary: 4 Stars
Landsman is a terrific book. Whatever quibbles people may have about the the thinness of the plot (I didn't have any. It was a good story), the sheer gorgeousness of the language makes up for it. Melman's style is bold, audacious, poetic, and a joy to read. His eye for detail, ear for dialogue, and ability to write artfully while moving a story along at breakneck speed all herald the arrival of a major new talent. I'm greatly looking forward to his next book.
