Book Review: Not bad, but don't expect an Ellora's Cave type romance...slight spoiler

Bought this book as Rhyannon Byrd is one of my fave EC authors, and as a mainstream book goes, this was pretty good. It's like many paranormal/Were stories doing the rounds at this time, but I have to admit that I bought it on the expectations of RB's past novels. It wasn't as hot - only 1 or 2 sex scenes, and these are right in the last few pages of the book. I think that she had to seriously tone the book down as Nocturne is part of the Silhouette/Mills and Boon line, and may have offended readers of more traditional romances. Saying that, M&B get away with borderline Erotica in their Blaze range, so I don't see why this one couldn't have been spiced up. After all, Lora Leigh, another ex-Ellora's Cave author who has now gone mainstream, has the same hot, hot, naughty, non-vanilla sex scenes in her mainstream books (though, admittedly, they are under Berkeley), and if Rhyannon follows suit, I'll continue to buy her. Here's to book 2, and in the meantime, thank goodness for the resale market and the length of time RB fans have been waiting for this novel!!
