Book Review: 10 yrs ago it was great-now its sad!
Summary: 3 Stars
When I was about 9 I read every book in this series and absolutely loved them. The thought of travelling around a country in the wild and living off the land was exciting to a child who was born and grew up in the same house. Now, reading the whole serise again as a wife and mother,I feel sad to read and understand all the parts I missed.Thousands of settlers just like the Ingalls moved into and took without thought, the land and livleyhood of the native Americans. All they were interested in was making money to support themselves and acquiring land. The things I have appreciated this time round is the conveniences of my life compared to the wives and mothers of that time, boy, they had it tough. I did like the idea of the few belongings they had, it certainly made it easier to move, which after at least 12 moves myself, would be wonderful. This series is a great look into life before electricity, supermarkets and Native Title Laws. Its simple and detailed for those without knowledge of pioneer life.
