Book Reviews of Le Petit Prince (French Language Edition)

Book Review: A well-written story.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is indeed a well-written story with deeper meanings running behind what seems to be a quixotic journey through a somewhat Lewis Caroll universe - but it didn't really speak to me. It started off rather well and sloped downwards from there. Suppos?dly those who read the book will get a better perspective on life, people, and reality; however, one can garnish much more from a reading of the Vedic classic, "the Bhagavad Gita", or the Daoist classic, "the Daodejing". "Le Petit Prince" isn't for everyone, but it's definitely worth giving a try.

Book Review: Le Petit Prince, a interesting, teaching book
Summary: 4 Stars

This book teachs many things about life. On every plant that Le Petit Prince lands on the book teachs us something new. It teachs us about many different personalities people can have. It's also a very interesting book. It's not a book that I got hooked on, but it's diffenatly a good story. It's interesting how the author, Antoine-Marie-Roger de Saint-Exupery, has himself as a character in the book and how is playing himself, as a piolt, just as he is.

Book Review: A na?ve look on friendship and human behaviour
Summary: 5 Stars

When I was eight years old, my parents game this book saying it is a great book for children. I started reading it and quit after I had reached the third chapter. It was too boring for an eight-year old child. Well, now I'm 23 I decided to give the book one more chance and... I loved it! In spite of what most people say about 'Le Petit Prince' (including Saint-Exupery himself on the book's preface), this is not a book "pour les petits". It is too philosofical for children. The book is about growing older and how grown-ups loose their innocence during this process. It is about how clumsy adults do become. 'Le Petit Prince' depicts the nature of human behaviour by means of a worderful fable. A pilot with engine problems in his aircraft is forced to land in the middle of Sahara desert where he meets Le Petit Prince, a mysterious child who had just arrived from his tiny lonely planet in search of friends. During his trip to Earth, Le Petit Prince meets several unusual characters. Each of them reveals something about the nature of adults. The pilot (an adult himself) is much disconcerted in realising he has something to learn with the child-prince, who has a na?ve look upon people the pilot had long lost.

Book Review: Magical
Summary: 5 Stars

Le Petit Prince is a magical story of a pilot and the Prince he meets in the middle of a desert. The pilot, an adult, listen attentively as the Prince, seemingly a child; tells of his trip to Earth and the people he meets along the way.

The Prince has journey to Earth from an asteroid floating in space. He tells the pilot of people such as a dedicated lamplighter living on an asteroid where night and day last only moments. He also tells the pilot about the asteroid and about how sad he feels as he watches the sunset and then, watches it yet again, until he finally feels better.

The pilot and the Prince then make a journey together in search of a well. Finally, the Prince must leave Earth to return to his asteroid and his own special rose. The story ends with a simple request to the reader.

Although Le Petit Prince may seem to be nothing more than a simple and beautiful fairy tale it is really so much more. It is a story for children, to be sure, but it is also a story for people of all ages who have not quite grown up.

But who is not quite grown up? If you have read Le Petit Prince you will realize that a grownup is a person, who, even if there is a pitcher of water sitting in front of him, will choose, instead to walk to a fountain and take a drink. This book has many things to say that are very important for all of us to hear, however, most of us never find the time to listen to the lessons it teaches. There is magic in this little book: in the fox, in the rose, in the asp in the sunsets and most of all, in the Prince's parting gift to the pilot.

The journey of the Prince and the timeless themes this book presents are woven together into an immensely beautiful story. This is a sweet but profound little book that might change the way you look at things and live your life, if only just a little.

Book Review: Amazingly deep children's book, with plenty for adults
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a book that everyone should read, like a sort of emotional vaccination in childhood. In simple language, in a simple story, it delves into how we should relate to each other, and how we should live our lives. Only great writers can convey this in such an uncomplicated way. There is something in this book that will speak to everyone.
